Well, it’s the halfway point in the 2009 baseball season, and I thought this would be a good time to throw my hat into the ring in regards to this familiar and annoying topic. I’ve had this conversation with many people, as all baseball fans tend to do amongst themselves.
Why can’t they pay baseball players according to their statistics, instead of to what their potential seems to be? How many times have we seen a guy sign a big contract, for zillions of dollars, in ANY sport, not just baseball—only to see the athlete just tank and under-perform the next season.
Then there’s the owners, all the variables that go along with running a league, merchandising, licensing, agents bargaining… so many things that affect the bottom line in regards to any pay structure, and to expand, on any economic model. And as an artist and not being born with a left-side of my brain (I use that part of my skull for Christmas ornament storage), talking money is a true stretch for my poor little lonely right brain to handle.
So I don’t know why I am obsessed with how I think ‘we’ should pay baseball players—maybe it’s because it has led me to a way to combine different Structures of Thought™ on how to cope with this March to Ruin that is our economy right now—or whatever the corporatocracy wants us to believe at this moment in history. Since the entire system is basically shot, now is the time to just change the whole structure—not just the Thought Structure, but the entire economic process. And we can start by trying it out on how we pay baseball players.
First of all, the NFL more closely follows this model, by somewhat pooling all their revenue and approaching the distribution of money within the league, the use of salary caps, and the loose philosophy that health of the league as a whole is in the best interest of all teams, and that parity within the league gives all a better chance at winning. Plus it keeps all fans interested, because every year their team has a chance. Read the rest of this entry »
I found this audio selection about six months ago, and I have listened to it maybe 10-15 times since. I think I had heard of Earl Nightingale before, and he reads this philosophy very convincingly. And I really like how it starts… Men simply don’t think. How true is this in our million mile an hour world today?
There is a lot of insight and truth in this message—and it’s obvious even today with all the hubbub that popped up about “The Secret” about what, 2 years ago now? Read the rest of this entry »
Just Spotted this one in a heavily trafficed area within walking distance of my office – same as the one that was painted over, but with the great added touch of the disapproving Barking Dog… such a nice touch! I was in the car as I drove by—I hurriedly whipped out my camera and snapped pics of some people posing with the graffiti. I wish I was quick enough to have snapped a pic of the main in the close up below when the girl was taking his pic… he posed in the Blago Jogging position himself, which was very hilarious to watch. I snapped my shots when he was taking the picture of his companion, returning the favor so to speak.
There was a small crowd of people checking it out, seeming to be mulling over if they were going to engage with the piece, waiting to take their turn and snap a pic with the image.
Do any of my Fellow Chicagonians have any other Blago/Banksy sightings they’d like to share? Feel free to comment and leave a location… I’ll try to check it out or find any other blogs, articles or pics on the net that deal with it. I really think this is facinating… Art doing what it is meant to do, the highest calling of all, making people engaged and thinking about the true meanings of our own behaviors and that of our leaders. Really makes your head spin if you think about it.
About ten days ago I was driving by the underpass where that hilarious Blogo graffiti was painted… and my heart sank—it was painted over! I was so sad. I had come to enjoy driving by it everyday, seeing Rod’s sunshiney face peeing over his shoulder at me as I drove by, saying hi. Hi Rod, I’d say. I wonder what you are doing today… where you are trying to shamelessly self-promote yourself, watching your wife eat a bug, and wishing, wishing it was your bug to eat. Man, what a missed opportunity!
For the next couple of days, that part of my drive felt… empty. Like a vaccuum void where something meaningful was taken away. I would drive by and stare at the now blank spot on the wall—I missed Rod. And in thinking in the bigger picture, I was mad at the censorship. Yes, the tried and true debate of the value of graffiti itself. Graffiti has been slow to grow on me, because when it is destructive of private property, that makes me angry. But this is an underpass on a public piece of transport! Plus it spoke to me… it carried a message, a meaning. It was a barb of pointed Thought Structure™ that poked my brain with irony, humor, and the knowledge of the “logos” of what that particular graffiti stood for… the sorry state of politics that exists in many factions today.
So last Thursday, as I’m driving by to get home, lo and behold – The BlogoBanksy strikes again! This time it was on the other side of the street – but directly across from where the first one was painted. This one is of Blogo lighting a campfire, with the same guilty look on his face as the ‘jogger’ Blogo. What does the lighting of the campfire represent? Feel free to chime in your own opinions… I’d love to hear what you think.
So now I feel better. I hope the city leaves this one up for longer than a month. Even in this form, this Graffiti is undoubtedly Art. It makes you think. At least it makes ME think.
What do you think? I think that this is one of the greatest callings of Art. Pushing the Structure of Thought™, even kicking and screaming, towards a more intelligent, more benevolent existence.
I don’t know how many of these have been painted around Chicago, but someone tossed this new image up close by my office late last week. Is it the Real Banksy? Probably not… but you never know.
The provocative, elusive artist Banksy is a “legend wrapped in an enigma inside a paradox” to semi-quote Joe Pesci as David Ferrie from JFK. Check out both youtube video links I’ve placed in this blog entry if you don’t know who he is. And this Chicago-style deep-dish example is not only editorially poignant but hilarious… constructive, and deliciously ironic. It captures the flavor of the whole ordeal in one simple image. Brilliant.
As many of you are aware, Rod Blagojevich is the much bally-hooey-ed impeached former Governor of Illinois… and old news at that, much to his narcissistic chagrin. Again, as a dyed-in-the-wool conspiracy theorist, it is my belief that he was dragged out of office and disgraced only because he went against the banking system… the day before he was busted by Federal Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald he came out at an impromptu press conference and started barking about investigating Bank of America and pulling all the state’s business with the Giant Bank—the next morning the Feds are at his door.
It was within that next week the press phalanx started to follow Blago and his giant hairdoo’s every move… trying to jog in the frigid cold of an early December day. By his gait, it was obvious that Rod rarely, if ever, jogged. He was really out sniffing about, trying to garner some much coveted attention. A clue to the media whore he would become. Republocrat or Demican, IMHO both are fair game and one in the same these days… those of you who know me know that I am non-partisan when it comes to exposing hypocrasy.
So it is in that light that the “Banksiesque” Chicago effort is again brilliant. It captures the complete awkward absurdity of the giant egomaniac former governor in an act of pure irony… himself barely a runner, looking over his shoulder, looking for the press to make sure they follow, looking for attention, ANY attention… and also approval.
Filled with fear that he is getting neither, he can’t help but to also be looking for the inevitable arm of justice to grab him by his furrowed neck like a bad kitten and toss him into the can. Much has been made about his mental state—as a seasoned veteran of dealing with mental wackiness, I diagose Blago as “suffering” from narissistic bi-polar… which is a main symptom of being in that state of mind of which I am very familiar.
That particular narcissistic Structure of Thought™, when you are immersed in it, blinds you to the obvious. And I can’t sympathize with his diabolical behavior. Blago is a symptom of our time, a pathetic example of what our system run amuck without principles, checks and balances, morals, ethics, compassion and logic produces. Hopefully he will get some sembalance of treatment and counselling when he’s paying his debt to society.
‘The mind is like a parachute—it doesn’t function unless it is open.’
It’s an annoying quote, but it is true. And like one of my favorite quotes from Voltaire – ‘I (may) not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it,’ Free speech is a beautiful thing, when it is used with brilliant analogy, tact, and truthful, organized, Positive Thought Structure™.
MEP Daniel Hannan from England—once an unknown “backbencher” in Parlament is becoming an overnight sensation in our New Electronic Age… for this speech, or I should say ‘Flambe’ of PM Gordon Brown of Great Britian.
As an open-minded Spiritualist slash tree-hugging Bleeding Heart Artist that I am, I will acknowledge ANYONE who speaks Truth to Power—and what Daniel says from the right side of the aisle makes an incredible amount of sense to me. He’s young, ( 37 ) obscure, and politically green – until now. My theory is that he’s too new to have been bought off by the NWO secret government banking cartel that is trying to vacuum up every last penny, freedom and control mechanism in this physical realm we call existence on planet earth.
Hopefully his bravery of shaking the tree will jostle even more of us to awakening to the fact that there is a struggle ongoing for all of our hearts and minds… Check out his apperance on the Faux Netwerkz’ ‘Your World with Neil Cavuto’:
I absolutely love watching Cavuto physically Flinch when Hannan expresses his admiration for Ron Paul—that’s pretty much worth the price of admission itself right there. And it once more shines the light of truth on the difference between those on the dole for anything from special interest to the illuminati, and someone who has his own brain, his own soul, his own mind, and speaks with certainty, truthfulness, and conviction.
If the Conservatives in this country were this articulate, had a plan ( Hannan has written a number of books, the latest being The Plan: Twelve months to renew Britain ) and thought with their heads instead of their ‘Wankers’ and Faux religious Facades, and didn’t look at everything as with/against, Black/White, I’d give them more credit like I am giving this guy. Keep making sense and Creating Positive Thought Structure™ for all of us, Daniel… anything to drag the powers that be into a more benevolent physical existence.
Read this Blog entry by Daniel… he’s thoughtful, insightful, humble, articulate… and he sums up the ending of my particular blog entry much better than I can. Again, Bravo – and Conservatives – take a lesson from this Kid. Hopefully his convictions, morals and spine with remain strong and pure of heart.
I was watching the season premiere of Real Time with Bill Maher the other day. His panel and he were talking about the predicament we, as a global society, are all experiencing right now. And their conversation reminded me of all the Discovery Channel / History Channel / Nova / Carl Sagan etc. shows I have ever seen, talking to scientists, physicists, chemists, micro biologists and what not , talking about Quantum Physics, the smaller aspects of what makes up our “physical” Omniverse™.
And what do they conclude?
To sum up, it is basically this: the closer they look at what makes up what we perceive as solid “Matter”—the more they break that down and peer into the Atoms, thru the Protons, Neutrons, & Electrons, smaller and smaller into the quarks and all their variety, the more they look into what actually makes up the physical “universe”, the more they realize it is made up of… emptyness. Empty space.
Now that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything there. Vibrating energy is something, in a metaphysical sense.
But I think this Quantum Physics analogy towards the Banking Industry is a proper and justified.
My reasoning is this—in all the explanations I have seen in regards to how banking works, the Federal Reserve ( from Zeitgeist ) and the mystery and yes, conspiracy that surrounds it, there is a correlation to how banks “behave” and how electrons “behave”. When the smallest of the building blocks are observed, they behave one way, but when they are not under direct supervision, they behave in a completely different fashion.
As with the banks—without solid regulations, checks and balances and accountability, they behave one way… pretty much like a “wave”—nothing is really there. But when they are within the brightly shining spotlight, and the microscope is focused squarely on them, we find that the banking system can behave like a particle, with seemingly solid substance. As long as it is being observed and held to a higher standard—a standard based on substance, preferably Gold… at least that is how it has always been done, until recently.
Very similar… Banking and Quantum Physics.
it is interesting—both seem to rely very heavily upon faith.
Not to be too long winded about this, ( ha ha ) but in linking my Thought Structure™ researching the videos for this post, one of the words that the scientists kept coming back to over and over in regards to how Atoms, and more specifically electrons, behave, they talk about the potential of the atom, and the energy that it possesses.
As the above clip from “what the bleep do we know” so eloquently demonstrates, our comprehension of what reality is and how we perceive it is changing at a dramatic rate. It is my contention that the monetary system, this “old style” of control, has totally limited the potential of mankind itself. It has convinced all of us to focus on something that gives over all our control to a very small group of people whose only thought has been to keep all of us in the dark and to milk us for all potential.
We have outgrown this method of “debt enslavement.”
The human race can do so much better, don’t you think? That’s where Positive Thought Structure™ comes into play—it has always been, we just need to recognize that it is there for us always.
The Power of Intention – it cuts both ways. And there are so many unenlightened humans, mired in the morass of Negative Thought Structure™… the heaviness and negativity of all these conspiracies to keep us dumbed down, to limit us as to who we really are—it is my hope that those within the halls of this so called “power” evolve along with the rest of us and strive for a new way to be.
President Obama Invited Mr. Abess, the example I called out in my blog last week, to his State of the Union speech last night. I was so busy spraining my brain ( Literally ) that I wasn’t able to watch the speech until this morning getting ready for work.
Here’s the video of the end of the speech… Like I reiterate in my blog below – we have to address the fact that we need Behavioral Change. Yes, it is scary—but you know what? It feels good to be Generous!
So many times in watching Obama deliver this very effective and motivating speech, I wanted to puncuate his comments with the phrase, “…you greedy F****’n bASTahds!” Yes, that is strong language… however—I believe it is justified. I mean, c’mon, people… the time for hidden, selfish, petty agendas is DONE. There is more to life than to squish the hopes and dreams of this beautiful planet for the sake of control by the very powerful and very few. Let’s give it a try.
First – been so busy, haven’t been able to post! So I apologize.
Second – check out this link to this banker in Florida – I heard about this from the Drudge Report on Monday.
This guy—no matter what his modivation is—gave at least a large part of his fortune away… to the people who worked for him! Talk about setting a positive example, Leonard Abess Jr. does it.
I read the comments at the end of the article… many say, “oh, it’s a tax issue” or “He’s a money launderer” or whatever. Maybe it is true. But—hey! Sharing is caring – it’s not that hard.
It must be… because there is so little of it in our modern western culture.
Or maybe it just goes unreported… because doing good just doesn’t get the ratings or sell the magazines & newspapers that crazy octuplet moms, monkey assaults and Drew Peterson’s girlfriend—and general paparazzi distractions that people seem to think are more interesting. Like a train wreck… you just can’t look away.
Hopefully, now actions like this will start to take some president over all the bad behavior that we seem to devour like starving people looking for a morsel. I wonder why this is.
There must be some sort of addictive quality to all the interest in this part of our culture—and the ho-hum attitude towards those who act in a dignified, reasonable manner that set such a good example. I hope that we start to recognize the Positive Thought Structure™ that goes into bringing that most difficult of example into this particular physical realm we are inhabiting at this time.
Watch these videos of this Democratic senator, Ben Nelson from Nebraska. The first video is the set-up on the Rachel Maddow Show… Yes, I am a fan of Rachel, Bigtime—she’s an intellectual, smart, doesn’t take herself too seriously.
Thanks to cspanjunkie—I am a HUGE fan. If anyone wants to delve into the rabbit hole of the last eight years, check out all the videos cspanjunkie has on his many portals… if you google him or search on youtube, there’s hours of great stuff. Donations are welcome as well.
Draw your own conclusions, but I can’t help but wonder—the powers that be want us to remain ignorant, they do not want to improve the infrastructure of the public school system for a myriad of reasons, and that they fear an educated populus. This guy claims he is a Democrat, but listen to what he says—or what he doesn’t say… what exactly Does he say? He’s making excuses for what? Zero. As reiterated in many opinions about this apperance last night—he is speaking a bunch of gobbledy-gook. It’s pathetic. And Rachel calls him on it, thank goodness. But the Wisdom of George Carlin sums it up the best:
To me, this plays into the theory that if there is legislation that goes against the wishes of the CFR / Trilateral / Bilderberg crowd, which improving education inadvertantly does.
The politicians, no matter what their affiliations, are going to be backpeddling just like this knucklehed and have to pathetically defend their position, no matter how absurd. And that’s exactly the way he sounds… Absurd. Their only thought – is to retain their hold on power. How fricking crazy is that?
Your thoughts welcome!
I mean really close. I mean taking up 80% of the sky, and hardly being able to see the stars in the sky close. This is about the fourth or fifth time I have had variations of this dream. What is pretty astounding about this dream is that I was standing on a frozen body of water, and I was making art on the ice like you would see on a hockey rink. But the tidal effect of the moon being so close, in this particular dream, had absolutely no effect on the water – it was as tepid as bathwater. It was an awesome display – I could see in great detail the surface of the moon – even though it was just a sliver of sunlight – a thin crescent.
As I type, I’m listening to the video “the missing secrets of Nikola Tesla” – very interesting. It’s hosted by Dean Stockwell – one of my favorite actors… brilliant as “Ben” from the movie Blue Velvet.
I can’t seem to insert the video, so here is the link – the music of this series is pretty awful, imho. But the show is very interesting.
The video is only 47 minutes long – but about 40 minutes it talks about how Tesla dreamt the solutions of his problems, dreamt about giant machines, concepts and visions that exist, as he theorized, “in the Ether”… meaning – that they do exist. In a way, this theory touches upon “The Structure of Thought™” that I am trying to bring into a physical form by my art and this blog. All things that are possible do exist within the realm of the infinine. Right?
Do you have a re-occuring dreams lately? Or at a certain period in your life? Some people have the same dreams over and over, I think mostly brought on by anxiety. As I venture into writing this blog on a regular basis, I think this will be the first theme I explore, and I encourage any of you to pitch in with any dream themes you want to share. Maybe we can decipher them for all of us collectively.
